Patten

My mother`s sister Lottie lived just across the railway line in Seven Kings, but we didn`t see a lot of her. However, she and her family took temporary refuge with us in 1941 when their house was bombed.

She had married Frederick Douglas Patten in 1913, and they had four children whom I cannot remember very clearly.   Fortunately one of their grandchildren, Josie Skilton, has come to the aid of this website with photos and information which can be found in the charts and further information.

Frederick Douglas was the seventh of eight children of William and Sarah. William had been born in Southwark, Sarah in Colchester. William had started off as a toll-keeper, but at the next three censuses he was making tin and zinc packing cases. William`s parents had been William and Maria. That William had been born in St. Pancras and Maria in Rochester, Kent.
